About me
Leena Thommen
For me, ski cross means courage, joy and the feeling of growing a little bit every day – on and off the slopes.
Skicross
My name is Leena. I first stood on skis at the age of two – back then, I had no idea where this path would lead me. When I joined the Feusisberg Ski Club at the age of nine and competed in my first JO races, my enjoyment of the snow slowly turned into a passion.
My first ski cross race in Hoch-Ybrig changed a lot: I realised how much this discipline challenges me – and fulfils me at the same time. In 2022, I was allowed to join the SX Riders Team, which has helped me enormously in my sporting development.
In the 2023/24 season, I was accepted into the Swiss Ski selection squad. The 2024/25 season was an important step for me: it enabled me to move up to the C squad. I am grateful for every opportunity to learn, train and develop further.
For me, ski cross means courage, joy and the feeling of growing a little bit every day – on and off the slopes.

Fitness training
I train three to four times a week at OYM in Cham. The training there is intense and challenges me every time.
But that's exactly what I appreciate: seeing that hard work pays off. I try to improve step by step – without pressure, but with a lot of commitment.
Off the slopes
Since 2020, I have been attending the Gymnasium Stiftsschule Einsiedeln. In addition to sport, I am particularly interested in history, philosophy, German and English.
Languages have been a part of my life for a long time: I grew up speaking Estonian and also speak English, French and Italian. I am also learning Latin. Languages open up new perspectives and encounters for me – something that is very important to me because it helps me to understand the world better.
